An opening ceremony was held for Chez Marianne Souvenirs de Paris on the morning of Friday 28th November. Disneyland Paris officially hailed it as the completion of La Place de Rémy.
The ceremony for the opening of the new store in Walt Disney Studios Park was attended by Disneyland Paris’ new CEO Tom Wolber, along with press, cast members and fans.
The opening of the shop marks the third and final part of the Ratatouille themed mini-land. Although Chez Marianne was never scheduled to open alongside the Ratatouille attraction and restaurant in July this year, few expected that it would take so long before the mini-land could finally be called complete.
The shop itself is a tribute to Paris. With a lavish art nouveau theme, the shop is spilt into two distinct sections. The first section will sell general Disneyland Paris merchandise and in particular Ratatouille themed goods. The second section has attracted particular interest however, because it will become the first store in the Walt Disney Studios Park to sell pick-&-mix sweets along with other sweet confectioneries. The pick-&-mix section is described as ‘gourmet’ and will be across a whole “candy wall”.
Previews of the shop have been made available to Cast Members and some Annual Pass Holders over the past few days.
Reaction to the new shop has been very positive from the fan community, with many commenting on how it sets a new precedent for the quality of shops in the Walt Disney Studios Park. Most have also praised the shop’s intricate décor and high attention to detail.
