With no real changes for the upcoming return of Frozen Summer Fun, and Disneyland Paris being a little more open about what’s happening in the current refurbishments, the rumour mill has remained a bit dry this month in terms of attractions. Luckily we’ve got an interesting new look at Mickey and the Magician, as well as a little something about a potential new hotel…
Mickey and the Magician (and also the Lion King)
New artwork revealed for the upcoming show at Walt Disney Studios Park shows a concept for the Lion King segment of the show. It seems that similar artistic puppetry to that seen in the West End spectacular will feature in the show, and after an interview with show director Katy Harris (au Francais) we now know that the show will include Mickey Mouse meeting many of the famous magicians from Disney classics and causing trouble with them – including Rafiki from the Lion King and Elsa from Frozen! The show makes its début in place of Animagique on 2nd July 2016.
A New hotel?
DLP Today reports that Disneyland Paris might be considering building a new value on-site hotel, perhaps along the same lines as the ‘Art of Animation Resort’ seen in Walt Disney Studios, based on some leaked planning documents. The resort would be located on the spare land opposite Hotel Santa Fe and Hotel Sequoia Lodge, but would be many years in the future, and despite it likely to be a simple build as a ‘value’ hotel, it would most likely be coming after 2020. It would perhaps be a strange move for Disneyland Paris considering that it is seeking to brand itself as a ‘premium’ holiday resort, however there is clear demand for cheaper on-site facilities.
For a longer discussion of the project, we recommend DLP Today’s article.
