Every year more and more smart phones are sold worldwide. Hundreds of millions of people are signing up to social media websites such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. All of this means that our reliance on an internet connection is more than ever. To help their guests with this most hotels and popular attractions have been offering some kind of free internet access.
A paid for wired connection has been available in the Disney Hotels for some time now. Guests staying at selected hotels (Disneyland Hotel, Disney’s Hotel New York, Disney’s Newport Bay Club and Disney’s Sequoia Lodge) could access a paid for WiFi service, not the best when compared to other hotels and tourist attractions around the world.
The best type of advertising for any company is free advertising. Social media apps provide this for Disneyland Paris through status updates and image/video uploads. To help promote the use of social media apps in the resort Disneyland Paris have made Free WiFi available. Guests can now find free WiFi in all of the Disney Hotels (See map below). I still don’t think they have it correct though. Disneyland Paris are only offering free WiFi hotel wide (including guest rooms) in the most expensive hotels.
- Disneyland Hotel – Hotel Wide Free WiFi
- Disney’s Hotel New York – Hotel Wide Free WiFi
- Disney’s Newport Bay Club – Hotel Wide Free WiFi
- Disney’s Sequoia Lodge – Hotel Wide Free WiFi
- Disney’s Hotel Cheyenne – Free WiFi in bar and lobby area only
- Disney’s Hotel Santa Fe – Free WiFi in bar and lobby area only
- Disney’s Davey Crocket Ranch – Free WiFi in bar and lobby area only
Disneyland Paris have done well to offer this to guests staying on site but I still believe they need to roll out free WiFi into every hotel room. It is fast becoming the standard for any hotel room in the world and might stop people staying on site. Something they are wanting to increase.
Disneyland Paris have also introduced free WiFi into Disney Village. Free WiFi is now available at the Sports Bar, the Wild West Show and The Steakhouse. Before this McDonald’s was the only place in the whole of Disneyland Paris where you could get free WiFi. Now you can sit an relax with a drink, eating food or enjoying entertainment while keeping your social media accounts up-to-date. Disneyland Paris also hopes it keeps you stay in the village once the parks are closed, spending more money.
Why have they not put free wifi into the guest rooms at Cheyenne and Santa Fe? When will the wifi be in parks like in America?
I would think they would need more access points to cover all the individual buildings at the Cheyenne and Santa Fe. More expensive and not as easy to do.
Do you think they ever will have free wifi in the parks? Or do they simply don’t have it since they don’t want guests to be walking around with their phones all the time?
I am sure DLP are looking into it. The main reason it is in WDW at the moment is due to the new fast pass+ system which requires the use of an app with access to the internet.
